Logistics management

Logistics management deals with the coordination of resources in an organization. Optimum allocation of organization resources is called for with the aim of getting maximum returns at reduced cost. Logistics management focuses on the organization as a whole and not on individual units and departments, while deciding about the allocation of resources.

Operating Objectives of Logistics

Firms must achieve at least six different operational objectives:

ü Rapid performance

ü Minimum variance

ü Minimum inventory

ü Movement consolidation

ü Quality

ü Life cycle support
